Sharjah Court orders expat’s deportation after forging marriage contract

The Sharjah Criminal Court ordered the deportation of an African man after serving his jail time for forging a document so he could bring his lover to the UAE.

The African man allegedly faked his and his lover’s marriage certificate. The man submitted the document to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Sharjah where he was apprehended, reported Khaleej Times.

The man initially admitted to forging the document that he submitted. However, he later denied any involvement in the fake marriage contract and claimed that he only received the contract from his home country not knowing it was fake.

The Court asked the African man to provide a valid marriage contract, to no avail. The African man was sentenced to deportation after serving his jail time.
