2 engaged Filipino couples insult wedding singer, host after refusing to work for free

Two Filipino engaged couples received much contempt on Facebook when they tried to get the services of host, and singer pro bono.

Althea Leonen, a part time wedding host, posted the screengrabs of her conversation from a prospect client. Initially, the client was friendly toward her, saying that a friend referred Leonen to them. Then, they asked for a booking in September for a sunset wedding.

Leonen later discovered that she would have to pay for her own accommodation as she “is not a part of the entourage”, and that her hosting would be for free.

Disappointed with the host’s refusal, the-soon-to-be-wed bride lashed out at the host on Facebook.

“You will never be popular. For sure, you are not even good at it. Events hosts also have minimal TF (talent fee). You post on IG as if you are pretty,” the client said.

Meanwhile, the host explained that she invests and attends trainings for her skills.

On a similar matter, Patricia Peñano ranted against another prospect client who wanted her to sing for free.

The client approached, asking 20 songs to be sung on their wedding day because the couple saw Peñano on TV.

When the singer asked about the budget, the groom responded that she will just have to sing and food will be provided at the reception.

“Kakanta ka lang naman,” the groom told her.

The groom claimed to be a relative of a mayor and promised to make the singer famous and provide her with followers.

In the end, the client accused the singer of being a gold digger and insulted her that she is not that good.

The threats enraged netizens and even jested that couples like these should just rent a karaoke machine.

“It would feel good to hit them with my guitar,” a user commented.
