Pulse Asia: 4 women top list of frontrunners in 2019 senatorial elections

Pulse Asia on Monday, July 9, released the pre-election survey results revealing the frontrunners for the 2019 senatorial elections.

Four women topped the list with Incumbent senator Grace Poe retaining the top spot after garnering 67.4 percent, followed by Taguig City Representative Pia Cayetano at 55.7 percent, and incumbent senator Cynthia Villar at 50.1 percent.

Presidential daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio is in fourth spot at 46.2 percent despite announcing previously that she cannot run for a senatorial spot as her family is her current family.

Other names that made the “Magic 12” are as follows:

– Edgardo “Sonny” Angara Jr. – 41.9 percent
– Jinggoy Estrada – 37.9 percent
– Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa – 37.7 percent
– Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III – 37.7 percent
– Nancy Binay 37.1 percent
– Sergio “Serge” Osmena – 36.6 percent
– Lito Lapid – 36.2 percent
– JV Ejercito – 35.6 percent

Opposition senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino is at 13th place with 32.1 percent.

Other notable names that did not make the “Magic 12” include Ilocos Norte governor Imee Marcos, Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher “Bong” Go, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, and Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista.

Pulse Asia Research Inc. conducted face-to-face interviews from June 15-21, 2018 with 1,800 registered voters who were at least 18 years old.
