Clerk gets 3 months jail term for sexually harassing Filipina

A male clerk will be spending three months in jail for groping a Filipina cleaner in a villa’s washroom in Al Warqa back in December.

According to a report by Gulf News, the incident happened when the 20-year-old Filipina went to a washroom after cleaning the main hall of the villa.

The 28-year-old Indian clerk appeared and offered to help her clean the ceiling by carrying her. She turned down his offer and moved to another washroom where the Indian clerk followed her. It was there where he hugged, groped, and tried to kiss on her lips.

Out of fear, the Filipina pushed the Indian out of the room and locked herself inside. She then called her supervisor who told her to leave the villa immediately.

The victim reported the incident to the police that led to the suspect’s arrest.

The clerk appealed to be acquitted during the primary ruling, but presiding judge Saeed Salem Bin Sarm rejected it.

The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the Indian clerk to three months in jail and will be deported after serving his time.

Appellate court ruling regarding the Indian clerk’s case remains subject to appeal before the Cassation Court.
