Five expats sustain injuries in collision in RAK

Five Asian expatriates on Sunday, May 13, sustained moderate to severe injuries following a collision between two vehicles in the Rifaa area in Ras Al-Khaimah.

Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Sam Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Department at Ras Al-Khaimah Police, said the central operations room received a call regarding the incident at 7:30 in the morning.

The drivers of both vehicles, aged 26 and 27, and two passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries while another passenger, a 54-year-old, sustained serious injuries.

The victims were immediately brought to the nearest hospital for treatment.

“The first vehicle was led by a 26-year-old Asian national and the driver of the second vehicle of another 27-year-old Asian nationality, all of whom were injured moderately and simply, while one of the passengers was seriously injured at the age of 54 years,” Al Naqbi said.

Authorities concluded that lack of attention while driving and speeding were the causes of the accident.

After the incident, authorities reminded motorists to take caution while driving and to follow traffic regulations.
