Sharjah Court convicts man of kidnapping teen

The Sharjah Criminal Court has convicted one of two Asian men guilty of kidnapping a teenager.

The accused was sentenced to six months in jail followed by immediate deportation, reported Khaleej Times.

Court records showed that the teen was walking along a street in Sharjah at 1:00 in the morning when two men grabbed him and forced him into their car.

The men then tried to drive the teen to an unknown destination, but the victim managed to escape after calling for help which caught the attention of several passersby.

The youngster was able to note the plate number of the vehicle which led to the arrest of the suspects three days after.

The accused admitted he owned the vehicle used in the kidnapping. However, he denied his involvement in the incident, saying he was in Abu Dhabi when the kidnapping happened.

He added that his colleagues used his vehicle that night.

The victim, however, said the accused was indeed present during the crime.
