Bato on Duterte after PNP retirement: Hindi ko siya iiwan

Outgoing Philippine National Police (PNP) chief director Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said President Rodrigo Duterte will always have his support even after his retirement from the Duterte administration.

Dela Rosa said he is willing “sink or swim” with the President, saying Duterte gave him his biggest break as part of the police troop.

The outgoing PNP chief added that he is willing to face charges related to Duterte’s war on drugs.

“Handa ako, as I have said, I may sink or swim with my President, hindi ko siya iiwan,” Dela Rosa said.

Dela Rosa previously served as chief of the Davao City Police. He also served as the executive officer of the Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development.

The PNP chief was supposed to retire on January 21, after he reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 but the President extended his term for 3 months until April 21.

He will have a vacation in Davao City before taking over the helm of the Bureau of Corrections.

“Uwi akong Davao, mag-relax lang, tulog,” Dela Rosa sai

National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde will assume Dela Rosa’s position as PNP chief.
