OFW in Saudi claims policeman employer verbally abused, pointed gun at her

An overseas Filipina worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia accused her employer of verbal abuse and maltreatment.

Rose, a domestic helper, recalled a time when her male employer, a policeman in Riyadh, pointed his gun at her, reported GMA.

“Pagpasok niya dun sa may tapat ng kusina na nakatayo ako, tinutukan niya ako ng baril,” Rose tearfully said.

The incident was enough to make Rose fear about her safety.

Rose added that aside from verbal abuse, her employers would not feed her well and force her to work more than 8 hours a day.

She also cited an instance when she was locked inside her employers’ home.

“Ayoko dito ako mawalan ng hininga,” Rose said.

“Sabi ko ang bata ko pa, wala naman akong ginagawang masama sa kanila.”

Rose has reported the abuse to her recruitment agency in the Philippines. They, however, did not believe her story. She was asked to pay Php200,000 when she requested to be sent home.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is currently investigating the case.
