Pinoy janitor returns Php 1-million cash to owner

A janitor in Dagupan City returned a backpack containing cash amounting to approximately Php 1-million to its owner.

According to Reynaldo Padilla, a janitor in a local hospital in the area, he was cleaning one of the rooms when he checked the cabinets and discovered the backpack containing cash.

Padilla did not think twice and turned over the bag to the hospital’s administration.

“Hindi naman po sa akin ‘yan. Tapos hindi ko naman po pinaghirapan,” Padilla told ABS-CBN News.

The owner of the bag was apparently a businesswoman named Bernadette Abella who will use the money to pay her employees.

Padilla admitted that he could have used the money for his own good but the idea of stealing never crossed his mind as he believes that he should support his family using money he earned in a moral way.

He lives with his family inside a small home where flood reaches them during high tide.

Abella gave Padilla Php 10,000 for his honesty. Padilla then gave some of the money he received to his fellow janitors to help them as well.

Padilla believes his family is his own treasure.
