Fight fake products through this phone app

Shopping for goods is not only a necessity, it is also a part of everyone’s health and lifestyle. But most often than not, consumers least prioritize a product’s health labels.

A new health profiling mobile app, “Montaji”, which will be launched within two months, will help consumers match up their health profile with the product specifications.

Local reports say that  the new mobile app is an integrated system for classification and registration of consumer products where shoppers can ensure the safety of the product that they will buy.

“The app will enable consumers to scan the barcode of the products and get the product details immediately. In the next phase, we will enable the app to use consumers’ health profile so that they can check if certain products are suitable for them,” Gulf News quoted Ahmad Mohammad Kajoor, head of IT Infrastructure at the municipality, as saying.

A local report says that it is now compulsory for all consumer safety products such as health supplements, cosmetic and personal care products, perfumes, detergents, soaps, packaging materials and biocides such as antibacterial products in Dubai to be registered with the Montaji system.

“When consumers have any doubt about any such products, they can enter the bar code or name of the product in the Montaji system and verify the details. They can find out if the product is actually registered with us or not and the specifications of the product,” Gulf News quoted Rafee, as saying.

In the rise of production of fake or imitation products, consumers become confused whether a product in the market is genuine or not. With the help of this application, shoppers will also be able to check whether consumer products are fake or genuine.
