The Abu Dhabi Police arrested an Arab woman for stealing Dh11 million from a government organization to pay for her lover’s debts and gifts.
The lover and his brother were also arrested for exploiting the 33-year woman from a GCC nation.
“Investigations revealed that the woman used her position at work and, through fraudulent means, took Dh11 million from the institution,” Khaleej Times quoted Colonel Tariq Al Ghoul, deputy director of the criminal investigation at the Abu Dhabi Police, as saying.
The woman used the stolen money to buy luxurious cars, special license plates, first-class air tickets to Europe, and expensive gadgets for her lover, according to Al Ghoul.
The lover had promised to marry the suspect. But he turned out to be already married.
The police had recovered some of the gifts and stolen money, including seven cars she bought.
Among the items recovered are two Rolls Royces, one Land Cruiser, one Nissan Patrol, one luxury sedan, one Nissan GTR, and a Lexus four-wheeler.
The trio’s case has been referred to public prosecutors.
