PH basketball team now 3-0 in Dubai tourney after beating Lebanon

Philippine basketball team Mighty Sports remains unbeaten in the Dubai International Basketball Championship after beating their toughest opponent yet, Lebanese team Homenetmen, 96-89, at the Shahad Al-Ahli Club in Dubai

Mighty Sports prevailed even though Walter Muñoz led Homenetmen in their fight back in the fourth quarter through his explosive scoring.

Mighty Sports was on track in blowing the game wide open after a brilliant third quarter put the team ahead, 77-63, entering the fourth.

But Homenetmen, behind its reinforcement from the US Virgin Islands, crawled back and was within three, 89-92, with 58.8 seconds remaining.

The Lebanese side had an opportunity to tie the game after Muñoz got momentarily free off a screen, but he missed the three-point attempt and Justin Brownlee eventually iced the game with four straight free throws.

Jeremiah Gray and Randolph Morris each made 24 points for Mighty Sports, which is now a win away from sweeping its Group B assignments.

Brownlee added 19 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Juan Gomez de Liaño chipped in 11 markers, while Jason Brickman contributed 10.

For Lebanon, Muñoz finished with 42 markers.
