Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior on Sunday denied social media reports claiming that authorities had arrested a terrorist cell in the country, saying the information was false and did not originate from any official source.
In a statement, the ministry said matters involving national security are handled with full transparency and would be announced through official channels in accordance with established procedures.
The ministry urged the public to verify information before sharing it and to rely only on official government sources for news related to security matters.
It said the ministry’s official accounts, along with those of other state institutions, are the only authorized sources of government information.
The ministry also warned that individuals who publish or circulate false news or rumors that could harm the public interest may face legal action under Kuwaiti law.
The statement came in response to social media posts claiming that security authorities had arrested a terrorist cell inside Kuwait, reports that the ministry described as unfounded.
