A total of 51 overseas Filipino workers and 23 dependents repatriated from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates have arrived safely in the Philippines, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration said Sunday.
The 74 returnees arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Saturday aboard Emirates Flight EK334.
According to OWWA, the Filipinos were repatriated due to various personal and employment-related concerns that required immediate government assistance.
Personnel from the OWWA and the Department of Migrant Workers welcomed the returnees upon arrival.
Through the agency’s Alagang OWWA program, the repatriates received food, financial assistance, transportation assistance and temporary accommodation.
OWWA said its regional welfare offices will continue to provide reintegration services, including livelihood assistance, employment facilitation, counseling and other support programs for the returning workers.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Business Council–Dubai and the Northern Emirates said Filipino-owned businesses in Dubai are expected to recover as tensions in the Middle East ease.
The group said many Filipino businesses experienced losses during the height of the regional conflict due to supply chain disruptions.
Registered financial planner Dr. Ben Lebig Jr. advised businesses to strengthen cash flow management and maintain sufficient operating funds to help them recover from the economic impact of the conflict.
