Over 350 Filipino community leaders and members gathered at the Melia Milano Hotel for the Kalayaan Ball 2026, marking a celebration of heritage, unity, and national pride in line with the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence.

Organized by the Kalayaan Organizing Committee, the gala brought together members of the Filipino community alongside officials from the Philippine Consulate General in Milan.

The Philippine Consulate General in Milan Consul General JT San Agustin highlighted the strength and resilience of Filipinos abroad, emphasizing that distance does not weaken ties to the homeland.

“Today, we do not just remember our history; we celebrate the living, breathing spirit of our nation that thrives right here in Italy,” San Agustin said, adding that the Filipino identity endures through “bayanihan” and mutual support within the diaspora.

Italian dignitaries were also present, including Hon. Manfredi Palmeri, who delivered a message of support and solidarity to the Filipino community.

The evening featured cultural performances, including a choral presentation by Koro Hiraya and a rendition of “Bayan Ko” performed by Joan Roque-Dulce. Outstanding community leaders were also recognized, with the program capped by a grand raffle draw.
