Abu Dhabi Police has warned residents against fraudulent websites and online platforms posing as consumer protection agencies in an effort to steal personal and banking information from unsuspecting users.
The warning forms part of the police force’s “Proactive Security” strategy and its efforts to strengthen cybercrime readiness.
According to Abu Dhabi Police, scammers are creating fake websites and online accounts that closely resemble legitimate consumer protection authorities, including the use of similar names, logos, and branding.
Authorities said the fraudulent platforms often appear in search engine results and target individuals seeking assistance or wishing to file complaints related to commercial goods, services, or retail establishments.
Victims are then asked to provide personal details, banking information, or download applications and software that may allow cybercriminals to gain access to their devices.
Abu Dhabi Police urged the public to verify the authenticity of websites and links before submitting information online and to avoid sharing sensitive personal or financial data through unverified channels.
The police also advised residents to confirm the legitimacy of organizations they interact with online and to use only official and approved platforms when submitting complaints or conducting transactions.
Authorities encouraged members of the public to report suspected cyber fraud and suspicious online activity through the Aman Service, the Abu Dhabi Police Smart App, or the designated reporting hotlines.
The police said public vigilance and prompt reporting play a key role in strengthening digital security and protecting the community from cybercrime.
