Public parking will be free across Sharjah on Monday, June 15, as the emirate observes the Hijri New Year holiday.
The exemption applies to regular public parking areas throughout the city, according to local authorities.
However, Sharjah officials said the free parking scheme does not cover smart parking zones and paid parking areas that operate throughout the week, including official holidays.
These exempted paid zones are identified by blue signboards installed in designated locations.
The Hijri New Year marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar year and is observed as a public holiday across the United Arab Emirates.
Authorities advised motorists to check parking signs carefully to avoid violations in areas where fees remain applicable despite the holiday.
