UAE launches Al Rams Waterfront, Boulevard projects to boost rural development

The Emirates Council for Balanced Development has announced the start of development works for the Al Rams Waterfront and Al Rams Boulevard projects in Ras Al Khaimah, aiming to transform villages and rural areas into integrated lifestyle and tourism destinations.

The Council said the initiative supports its broader vision of enhancing quality of life, promoting sustainable development, and highlighting national identity in local communities.

The Al Rams Waterfront project will cover a 2,000-metre stretch, featuring the redevelopment of Al Rams Corniche and Al Rams Marina.

It will include walking, cycling, and jogging tracks, alongside public facilities, parking spaces, landscaped green areas, playgrounds, and designated event plazas intended for community and cultural activities.

Authorities said the waterfront is designed to serve as a hub for social interaction, sports, and recreation in a safe and organized environment.

The project also includes the construction of a landmark inspired by Emirati heritage, intended to strengthen the area’s cultural identity and tourism appeal.

Meanwhile, the Al Rams Boulevard project will rehabilitate more than 100 existing shops under a unified modern design inspired by local traditions.

It will also include parking areas and public seating spaces, along with a shaded pedestrian walkway inspired by traditional Emirati Al Sadu weaving art, linking the commercial area to the waterfront.

The Council said construction will be carried out in phases to ensure minimal disruption to local businesses and maintain ongoing commercial activity.

The projects are part of continued efforts by the UAE to develop rural communities into attractive, sustainable destinations that reflect Emirati heritage and support balanced regional growth.
