Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson took a swipe at fellow lawmakers amid tensions in the Senate following last week’s shooting scare inside the chamber.
Lacson made the remark after Senator Pia Cayetano turned emotional while recounting her experience during the May 13 incident inside the Senate complex.
“Paano mo ba naman kukumustahin ang mga masasayang nagkakainan, nagkakape at naka FB live pa para pagbintangan ang minority bloc na may alam daw sa putukan ng baril sa Senado?” Lacson said.
[Translation: How are you supposed to check on people who looked happy eating, drinking coffee, and even going on Facebook Live while accusing the minority bloc of supposedly knowing something about the gunfire incident in the Senate?]
The comment came after Cayetano delivered an emotional privilege speech where she recalled the chaos and fear during the gunfire incident inside the Senate building.
Senator Pia Cayetano on Wednesday turns emotional as she recounts her ordeal during the recent shooting incident at the Senate.
In the same proceedings, Senator Risa Hontiveros called for a full investigation into the incident, saying the Senate should not act “as if nothing happened.”
