Sharjah Police has launched a specialized proactive team tasked with registering companies and training them on the emirate’s Occupational Safety and Health System, in a bid to improve compliance and strengthen preventive practices across industries.
The initiative, introduced by the General Directorate of Prevention and Safety, includes field inspections to identify unregistered firms and bring them into the system, alongside a suite of training programs and technical consultations.
Authorities said the move aims to reduce workplace incidents, enhance employee protection, and promote sustainable working environments.
Brigadier Dr Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, Director General of the General Directorate of Prevention and Safety, said the initiative signals a shift from reactive enforcement to a proactive prevention model.
“This is about guiding companies to meet approved requirements and strengthening their readiness to handle occupational risks using modern, applied scientific methodologies,” he said, adding that the approach also supports business continuity while safeguarding workers.
He noted that the team will prioritize raising awareness of occupational safety standards and ensuring their proper implementation to minimize accidents.
Colonel Jassim bin Talai’a, Director of the Accreditation and Training Department, described the program as a key component in strengthening the emirate’s preventive security framework.
He emphasized that fostering a culture of safety is a shared responsibility, saying that investing in prevention ultimately improves quality of life.
Officials also called on companies to actively engage with the initiative to achieve full compliance with safety regulations.
The program aligns with Sharjah’s broader strategy to reinforce occupational safety systems and protect its workforce.
