Abu Dhabi Judicial Department fines private notary Dh30,000 for non-compliance with regulations

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department’s Private Notary Affairs Committee has imposed an administrative fine of Dh30,000 on a private notary for failing to comply with laws, decisions, and regulations governing the profession.

The action is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight, uphold high professional standards, and enhance the quality of notary services in line with approved legal frameworks. It also aims to ensure the accuracy of transactions and safeguard the rights of all parties involved.

The decision was made during a committee meeting chaired by Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, where supervisory reports and performance evaluations of practitioners were reviewed.

The committee stressed the need for full compliance with regulations to maintain the strong reputation of the notary sector in Abu Dhabi. It reiterated that the private notary system is grounded in reliability and accuracy to protect the integrity of legal transactions.

Alongside enforcement measures, the committee also approved the licensing of a new office, the renewal of several existing licenses, and applications for registration and renewal of notaries working within licensed law firms authorized to provide private notary services.

With these approvals, the total number of private notaries in the emirate has reached 53, operating through 41 licensed law firms, aimed at improving accessibility and efficiency of services for clients.
