The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has launched a new AED100 polymer banknote that is more secure, longer lasting, more sustainable, and accessible for the blind and visually impaired.

According to WAM, the new AED 100 banknote has advanced security features, including SPARK Flow DIMENSIONS technology and a multi-colored chip known as KINEGRAM COLORS to help prevent counterfeiting.

The new bill is also made from durable polymer material, making it more sustainable and lasting two or more times longer than traditional paper.

Moreover, it includes Braille markings to help blind and visually impaired users easily identify its value.

When it comes to its design, the banknote keeps the familiar red color for easy public recognition. The front side displays the Um Al Quwain National Fort, a historical landmark. On the reverse, the note shows the Port of Fujairah and the Etihad Rail network, which connects the seven Emirates and Gulf countries.

The new AED 100 has already circulated alongside existing notes since March 24, 2025. Banks and exchange houses have been told to update their machines to accept the new banknotes.
