Malacañang confirmed on Tuesday that former President Rodrigo Duterte is now in the custody of authorities following his arrest for crimes against humanity.
In an official statement, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) reported that upon Duterte’s arrival in Manila, a prosecutor from the International Criminal Court (ICC) presented an arrest warrant against him.
“Early this morning, INTERPOL Manila received the official copy of the arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC),” the PCO said.
The statement further noted, “Upon his arrival, the Prosecutor General served the ICC’s notification for an arrest warrant against the former President for crimes against humanity.”
