‘Pinoy Hachiko’ dog waiting for a teacher who passed away goes viral

Manila, Philippines– Netizens were heartbroken to see photos and videos of a dog named “Buboy” shown patiently waiting for his owner, a teacher who passed away last weekend.

The dog was seen standing by the door patiently waiting for Prof. Carmelito Marcelo at the Mabalacat City College to come out.

“Ang hirap makita na hinihintay ang amo niya (Mr. Carmelito Marcelo) na lumabas ng Faculty, pero hindi nya alam na wala na amo niya,” said Mark Christian Arceo the uploader of the viral video.

Another netizen shared that the teacher became close to “Buboy” because he has no child or wife.

The dog was brought to the teacher’s wake by the professor’s students instead and what transpired broke a lot of hearts.

Dogs have been known for their loyalty. A 2009 movie was even made about a Japanese dog named Hachi, who patiently waited for her owner who have died due to heart attack.

Netizens are quick to compare Buboy to Hachi aas both have undying loyalty to their owners.

As of this posting, Arceo’s video of Buboy has garnered 200,000 views, 2,000 comments and more than 6,000 shares.

Arceo also shared photos of Buboy and Carmelito when the latter was still alive.
