A Dubai-based OFW flew all the way from the UAE to Davao City in the Philippines to surprise his grandmother on Mother’s Day.
For Dan Lester Dabon, or Dan On The Go, it’s a special time for him to show his love and appreciation to his grandmother, Helen T. Dabon, whom he fondly calls ‘Mama’.
After nearly half a day of flying all the way from the UAE, the OFW who is a self-confessed ‘laki sa lola’, arrived in his hometown in Davao City.
Dabon called on her grandmother at the gate. When his grandmother peeped to see who her surprise visitor was, she was speechless.
Dabon’s grandma was not able to hold back her happiness and excitement as they shared a tight, lingering hug.
The younger Dabon also offered some gifts and surprises to his grandmother. But for her, she already had the best gift for Mother’s day: her grandson’s tight hug.
In the video, Dabon left a message to the children who, just like him, grew up in the care of their grandparents.
“Sa generation ngayon, kung lola niyo man ang nagpalaki sa inyo, sa ngayon hindi niyo makikita yung essence at saka ‘yung substance kapag pinapagalitan kayo kasi ‘di ba medyo strict ang mga lola natin. Pero hayaan niyo lang ‘yon kasi it will be all for you,” he said.
Dabon’s surprise for his grandmother also touched the hearts of the people who were able to watch his video.
