What OFWs should know about Pag-IBIG Fund

Pag-IBIG fund recently announced that they are lowering interest rates for those who wish to avail housing loans. With this move, achieving that dream house would be easier for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) whose one of the primary goals in life is to have their own house.

Here are some things that both aspiring and current OFWs should know:

 

Q: How can aspiring or current OFWs register under Pag-IBIG’s mandatory coverage?

A: OFWs can register through the following:

• Pag-IBIG desks found in the Philippine Embassy or Consulate of your country

• Pag-IBIG Fund International Operations Group located at 6th Floor, Justine Bldg., Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City

• Any Pag-IBIG branch or office in the Philippines

• Pag-IBIG satellite office at the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA)

• Selected banks and remittance agencies including PNB, Metrobank, and iRemit Global Remittances Inc.

 

Q: How can old Pag-IBIG Fund members register under Pag-IBIG Overseas Program (POP)?

A: If abroad, you may visit the Pag-IBIG Information Desk located at the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in your country. Fill out the Member’s Data Form or Membership Registration Form. In the Philippines, you may visit any Pag-IBIG branch or office near you. Members also need to update their records especially if important details are already outdated.

 

Q: If a current member decides to become an OFW, what would happen to his/her contribution?

A: Pag-IBIG will combine his/her contribution as an OFW to his/her old contributions. The contribution will also remain under your name even if you decide to transfer from one company to another.

 

Q: Where can an OFW pay for his/her monthly contribution?

A: You may visit the Pag-IBIG Information Desk located at the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in your country. You may also opt to visit any accredited banks or remittance partners. The full list of accredited banks and remittance centers are uploaded in Pag-IBIG Fund’s website.

 

Q: If an OFW has been a member even before he/she left the Philippines, can he/she continue paying for his/her contribution abroad?

A: Yes. If a member already has a Pag-IBIG MID or Membership ID member, he/she can use it to pay for his/her contribution. If not, a member should register in any Pag-IBIG branch to receive a Registration Tracking No. or MID Number.
