Newly opened STARtista Gallery draws mixed reactions online

A newly opened attraction at Star City is drawing mixed reactions from netizens after photos of the STARtista Gallery circulated on social media.

The attraction, which officially opened on June 19, features lifelike statues of Filipino personalities from entertainment, sports, fashion, comedy, and public service.

Star City described the gallery as a new experience that allows visitors to get up close to some of the country’s most recognizable figures and take photos with the displays.

However, photos shared online quickly generated a wave of reactions, with some social media users questioning the resemblance and overall appearance of several statues.

Among the comments posted online were comparisons to statues commonly found in resorts and amusement parks, while others joked that some figures appeared tired or lacked the expected level of detail.

“Kung ako artista, di ko alam kung matutuwa o madi-disappoint,” one commenter wrote.

Others defended the attraction, saying it provides an affordable and uniquely Filipino alternative to international wax museums and should be appreciated as a local tourist attraction.

The STARtista Gallery features statues of several well-known Filipino personalities, including actors, athletes, public servants, and cultural icons.

Star City has yet to publicly address the online reactions.
