Did Liza Soberano actually express intent to join Miss Universe after Rabiya Mateo’s defeat?

Fans were delighted when they read on social media that actress Liza Soberano supposedly expressed her interest to compete at the next Miss Universe pageant.

The Facebook page named “Liza Soberano” posted: “Pag si Rabiya talaga ‘di maiuwi ang crown, ako talaga sasali next year!”

In another post from the page, it said: “Bawi tayo next year! Ako bahala.”

However, the 23-year-old actress said it is fake news.

In an Instagram post, Soberano denied that she will join the prestigious beauty contest adding that she doesn’t have a Facebook account.

“Hello, everyone! Just dropping by to say that I do not have a Facebook account. This account has been posing as me and has been making very questionable and detrimental statements,” she wrote.

She also asked her fans to report the fake account.

The actress reiterated that she doesn’t have plans to enter pageantry

“As much as I am flattered and grateful for all of your support and comments saying that I should give Miss Universe a try, I really don’t think it is for me. I’m an introvert and stages with a huge audience scare me half to death,” she explained.

She was being teased by beauty queens no less than Miss Universe titleholders Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray that she will surely slay the competition if she decides to join.

Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo ended her stint in the 69th Miss Universe pageant held in Florida, United States on May 16, after making it to the Top 21 of the competition.
