BI warns foreigners in Siargao: Violators may face deportation, blacklist

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) warned that foreign nationals in Siargao who violate Philippine laws and disrupt public order may face deportation and possible blacklisting.

The warning came after reports of alleged misconduct involving some foreigners on the island, one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations.

BI deputy spokesperson Melvin Mabulac said deportation cases may be filed when there is sufficient basis.

The BI also announced plans to roll out training programs for local government units and partner agencies to strengthen awareness of immigration laws, improve detection of violations, and enhance coordination in handling cases involving foreign nationals.

Mabulac added that foreigners found violating local laws may be placed on the bureau’s blacklist.

Kapag may violation, mas madali po,” he said.

He also noted that community complaints, especially those endorsed by local government units, may trigger further action.
