ABS-CBN News chief Ging Reyes said that they will not tolerate insensitive comments on mental health.
This, as DZMM host Jobert Sucaldito reportedly uttered “inappropriate and insensitive comments” regarding actress Nadine Lustre’s state of mental health.
“We in ABS-CBN News take the issue of mental health seriously. This was even the subject of a recent documentary we produced. We are investigating the reports that DZMM host Jobert Sucaldito utterred inappropriate and insensitive comments regarding actress Nadine Lustre’s state of mental health. Our journalists and other members of our team are accountable for their on-air statements,” Reyes said.
Sucaldito had strong words against actress Lustre, following her comments against showbiz columnist Ricky Lo.
“May mga labas ang pwet, mga naka t-back pa doon sa building, may mga caption na parang gusto tumalon, sana tumalon na lang kung ganun din naman pala,” Sucaldito said in his Sunday radio program.
The comment, however, did not sit well with Jadine fans and defended Nadine. They said that ‘suicide is not a joke’ and mental health should not be used to prove a point.
In his Facebook post, Sucaldito further explained his stand on the issue, defending Lo’s experience in showbiz.
“Nakakaawa rin si Nadine Lustre dahil sa masyado yata niyang isinaisip that she’s that big already. Mahal ko ang batang iyan pero there are things na kailangan niyang maintindihan sa mundong ito. It’s not just about things for herself – dapat marunong siyang umintindi ng salitang RESPETO sa mundong ginagalawan namin,” Sucaldito wrote.
He added that Nadine should’ve avoided being sarcastic and rather called Lo and told him her side of the story.
“Tapos dinugtungan pa niya ng “Nu na, 2020 na” na parang super angas ang dating. Piece of advise lang Nadine, why don’t you google Ricky Lo’s name – kung anong klaseng journalist siya,” the entertainment columnist penned.
“Masyado kang nag-feeling above him or many of us – na kaya mo siyang maliitin. Everything that Ricko Lo wrote about you, even the mental illness angle, were researched. Galing din sa ‘yo lahat iyon. Hindi gawa-gawa iyon,” Sucaldito wrote.
Sucaldito added that Lo deserves an apology from Nadine.
“Kung nagawa mo ngang bastusin ang isang RICKY LO, the more na puwede mong gawin to any of us. Tama Ining? Bawas lang ng yabang bao pa mahuli ang lahat. Hindi kami makapapayag na mabastos ng kahit sinong celebrity sa mundong ito pag wala sa katwiran,” he added.
