An Arabic Netflix-original series, Jinn, will stream worldwide in 2019. The show has begun shooting in Petra, Jordan during and unveiled a mixed cast of Middle Eastern actors.
Jinn is a six-episode supernatural young-adult drama which will follow the lives of Arab teenagers when they accidentally invite the mythological creatures of Jinn into their world.
The show will revolve around rebellious teen Mira who falls in love with Keras who is tasked to guard vigilante Jinns. She will be joined by two friends to rescue Yassin from a ruthless supernatural creature, Vera.
Netflix Vice President Erik Barmack said they aim to create an adventure-packed show about young people in the Middle East, said Hollywood Reporter.
The show’s writer, Rajeev Dassani added that local teens told them they have never seen themselves accurately represented on screen.
Jinn is produced by Kabreet Productions, under the direction of Mir-Jean Bou Chaaya
