Filipino singers Aicelle Santos and Gerald Santos, who are both alumni of the singing competition “Pinoy Pop Superstar”, were chosen to be part of the cast of the UK tour of the musical “Miss Saigon”.
Aicelle will be playing the character of Gigi, which was also played by fellow Filipino singer Rachelle Ann Go, while Gerald will reprise his role as Thuy.
The two singers are currently in London to start rehearsing for the said production, which will kick off by July 2018.
Aicelle and Gerald posted photos of their reunion on their respective Instagram account, and it was obvious that the two are elated to be working with each other once again.
“Reunited with my longtime Pinoy Pop Superstar sister [Aicelle Santos] here in Manchester! So happy for you, Aice! Career and lovelife goals!” Gerald posted on Instagram.
For her part, Aicelle wrote: “It feels like home having my brother [Gerald Santos] and the ultimately talented Pinoy friends in the cast. And it was lovely meeting Ella, Thao, Amanda and Zoe. This will be an exciting run!”
Aside from Aicelle and Gerald, other Filipino performers are also part of the Miss Saigon UK tour, such as Red Concepcion who will play the Engineer, Joreen Bautista who alternates as Kim, and Joaquin Valdes and Iroy Abesamis who are set to join the ensemble.
