A man in the UAE was arrested after he pretended to be a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer to take advantage of a woman and have his way with her.
The criminal court in Ras Al Khaimah heard the case of the Asian man who allegedly abducted and raped a woman in the emirate while posing as a CID officer, reported Khaleej Times.
The same report stated that the man also allegedly threatened to kill his target when she refused to give him what he wants.
The man has been charged with abduction and rape, impersonating a CID officer, driving under the influence, and driving without a licence.
The defendant was referred to the RAK criminal court wherein he strongly denied the accusations. He said that he did not abduct and rape the woman, and that he did not pretend to be a CID officer.
He, however, admitted that he drove a car without the consent of its real owner while under the influence of alcohol.
He said that he simply offered the woman a ride when he saw her walking alone and that everything that happened between them was done with the complainant’s consent.
On the other hand, the complainant said before the court that the man approached her as a CID officer and asked her for sexual favors. The suspect said that the man asked her to work as a prostitute for him, but she refused.
The woman said that she immediately went to the police to file a complaint the moment she got out of the man’s car.
The case was referred to the RAK criminal court and has been adjourned to next week.
