WiFi to be installed in 1,000 Dubai taxis soon

WiFi will soon be installed in another 1,000 taxis in Dubai to allow commuters to stay connected online even outside their work and homes.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has partnered with telecom company du to install WiFi to these taxis. While some taxis already have installed WiFi, RTA seeks to increase the number of taxis with WiFi connections in the emirate, reported Khaleej Times.

Anthony Shiner, chief digital lifestyle and innovation officer at du, said that WiFi connections in public transport would be of help in terms of learning the behavior of commuters particularly on what they access online.

Shiner said that learning the online behavior of commuters by seeking for their needs would help in improving services offered to them.
