The Dubai Police Command and Control Center saved the life of a driver who was inside a runaway car speeding at 140 km/h along Emirates Road on Friday, October 12.
The police said in a Facebook post that the driver could not stop the vehicle as the pedal of his car was stuck.
The Dubai Police said that they received a notification from Sharjah Police about a speeding car coming Sharjah driving towards Dubai that was travelling at 140 km/h at around 4:50 PM.
The authorities were then able to contact the driver to calm him down and give him instructions on how to stop his vehicle.
They also sent two patrol cars to clear the road in front of the speeding car.
The panicking driver said that he will ram his vehicle into a roadblock or another vehicle but the police diverted his mind from such thinking. They told him to calm down and assured him that he will be safe.
One of the officers then suggested that one of the patrol cars should drive in front of the runaway car at the same speed.
The patrol car in front then braked gradually until the car behind him slowed down as well.
The Dubai Police then reminded all drivers to be cautious when they are driving.
