His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved additional benefits for employees of Dubai government.
The new human resource law focuses on “ensuring job security and stability for all employees, improving overall performance, further enhancing government work, encouraging creativity and innovation among staff, and attracting the right talent that can help further cement Dubai Government’s profile as an model for innovation and excellence.”

In the law, the number of allowed leaves of employees of grades 8 to 11 has been increased from 15 leaves to 18. Meanwhile, employees of grades 7 and below are allowed to take a leave for 18 days instead of 15.
The number of days given to employees to mourn the death of a first degree relative is 10 days while mourning period for a second degree relative was also adjusted from three to five days.
An annual travel allowance will also be given to members of employee’s family under 21 years old, extending from the previous age limit of 18 years old.
Some of the other provisions in the law are as follows:
– In-house promotions without the need to meet promotion conditions
– Overtime allowances and periodic bonuses which scraps the 40 hours per week work requirement
– Five-day leave for educational purposes including research and academic papers
– Reduced working hours and additional five paid leaves for people of determination
The new HR Law of #Dubai Government is more flexible, allowing government entities to issue regulations and decisions that suit the nature of their operations, and also addresses key issues.

The new HR law includes 141 clauses instead of the previous 231 & features new clauses in areas such as Emiratisation, scholarship, learning & development. The law gives nationals looking for jobs and internships the opportunity to benefit from the experiences of Gov't agencies.
