Three passengers were held at different terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in three separate instances since June 15 for bomb joke, bringing bullet, and making false accusation that some personnel of the Office of the Transportation Security (OTS) stole his cellphone.
One of them was an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) named Alvin Malimban, who was arrested by aviation policemen immediately after his arrival at the Terminal 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for cracking a bomb joke while onboard a Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight from Saudi Arabia, reported Philstar.
According to Marissa Galvez, chief flight steward and wife of AFP Chief of Staff General Carlito Galvez, the OFW made a scene inside the plane after she refused to serve him third glass of drink for his unruly behavior towards the airplane staff.
The OFW was then caught stealing a bottle of wine by the staff. Instead of apologizing, he threatened the chief flight steward that he would blow up the plane with a bomb.
Another passenger named Kristine Moran was barred by authorities at NAIA after a bullet was discovered inside her bag. Moran shared that she and her relatives were bound for Zamboanga when airport employees blocked her to inspect her bag.
“This afternoon around 2:30pm I was at NAIA Terminal 3 Gate 2 upon check-in going to Zamboanga and passing by X-ray, I was held by the officer that my bag was to be for opened for inspection,” Moran’s Facebook post read.
Moran said the airport employees looked further until a 9 millimeter bullet was found inside one of the bag pockets, to her surprise.
Concerned agencies, particularly the Department of Transportation, Manila International Airport Authority, and Office for Transportation Security, were instructed to investigate the incident.
Meanwhile, Wilfredo Cabigao, a passenger bound for Australia, caused a scene at NAIA Terminal 2 after he accused an Office for Transportation Security (OTS) personnel of stealing his phone on the night of June 15.
Cabigao’s phone was found inside his bag when airport security searched for it.
After the incident, he wrote an apology letter admitting his mistakes. However, the OTS staff will file a complaint against him once he returned to the Philippines.
