Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach did an incredible job playing the role of Abi in her movie “My Perfect You”, Cathy Garcia-Molina has spoken out in praise for the actress.
During a press conference for the movie, Direk Cathy said that she stripped away the Miss Universe persona from Pia because she will be playing a secluded camp manager.
“Si Pia tinanggal ko lahat ng pagiging Miss Universe. Sabi ko, ‘I will never see Miss Universe on my set.'” Direk Cathy shared.
To her surprise, Direk Cathy admitted that Pia was able to give justice to her role.
“And in fairness to Pia, siyempre Miss Universe ‘yan, pero kahit ‘yung entourage niya wala kang mararamdaman na, ‘Oy, Miss Universe ‘yan’. In fact, ako pa nga nagagalit. ‘Alagaan niyo kaya ‘tong Miss Universe niyo’ kasi sugat-sugat na siya sa mga eksena pero hindi nagrereklamo,” she disclosed.
Since this is Pia’s first major movie role, Direk Cathy said that she wanted to see if the former beauty queen had acting chops to give. The esteemed director declared that she was not disappointed with her performance.
“Gusto ko lang malaman kung magaling ba ‘to umarte o hindi… magaling siya. There is one scene na sabi ko etong eksenang ‘to, hinihingi ko lang ‘to sa mga magagaling na artista,” the director continued, adding that Pia was able to deliver that specific difficult scene “with flying colors”.
She ended the press conference by saying that Pia and her on-screen partner on the movie, Gerald Anderson, can make more great films in the future.
“I am here to tell you how happy I am. They exceeded my expectations and I am looking forward to more movies, not necessarily with me kasi konti na lang pelikulang gagawin ko, pero Pia and Gerald on their own, maraming kakabugin,” she concluded.
Pia is currently visiting Dubai for a meet-and-greet session with her Filipino fans today, March 14, from 6 to 8pm at The Watch House.
