UAE-based telecommunications service providers du and Etisalat on Monday, October 23, launched a new feature in their respective websites to help residents choose a suitable operator based on their place of residence or work in the UAE.
The telecom operators published their “Service Coverage Interactive Maps”, in accordance with the directive of The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), requiring telecom operators to map the availability of their telecommunications services throughout the country.
“These interactive maps have another dimension, as it involves the public in the decision-making process by looking into the subject from the user’s point of view,” said HE Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General.
This step aims at providing the public with the opportunity to choose a suitable operator by knowing the telecom services available at their locations, such as the phone coverage of 2G, 3G, and 4G, as well as fixed line services and double and triple packages (voice + internet + TV).
The TRA’s website will also allow customers to provide feedback and improvement remarks regarding these maps, to make improvements based on customers’ needs.
“We emphasize on the importance of cooperation and coordination between all parties involved in the telecom sector in the UAE, including the operators of the public telecommunication services in the country, in order to reach the intended goal of achieving customers happiness and welfare,” HE Al Mansoori added.
