Dubai Police impound car over reckless stunt driving in residential area

Dubai Police impounded a vehicle involved in reckless stunt driving in a residential neighborhood, warning motorists that dangerous driving and illegal vehicle modifications will not be tolerated.

Authorities said the driver was caught performing dangerous stunts, screeching tires, and deliberately increasing the vehicle’s noise level in the Oud Al Muteena area, putting lives at risk and disturbing residents.

Dubai Police said reckless driving, stunt performances, and excessive noise from illegally modified vehicles are among the traffic violations that threaten road safety and disrupt peace in residential communities.

Officials stressed that such behavior negatively affects residents, especially children, the elderly, and sick individuals, by causing fear, anxiety, and disturbance.

“These acts also breach public peace, harm quality of life in residential areas, and do not reflect the civilized conduct that distinguishes the emirate of Dubai,” the police force said.

Essam Ibrahim Al Awar said traffic patrols intercepted the vehicle after monitoring the dangerous activity.

“This behavior endangered the driver’s life as well as the lives, safety and security of others,” Al Awar said, adding that the incident also caused noise disturbance and damage to public property in Oud Al Muteena.

He noted that excessive noise caused by modified vehicles and stunt driving is not only a traffic offense but also a harmful social behavior affecting community comfort and residential stability.

Dubai Police confirmed that the driver admitted to the violations after being identified and summoned by authorities. The vehicle has since been impounded, and legal action has been initiated.

Under Dubai’s Local Decree No. 30 of 2023, motorists involved in serious traffic offenses may face fines of up to Dh50,000 to recover impounded vehicles.

Police also said traffic monitoring operations will continue across roads and residential areas through patrols and smart surveillance systems.

Authorities urged motorists to follow traffic rules and reminded residents to report dangerous driving incidents through the Dubai Police app or the “We Are All Police” hotline.
