79 OFWs from Kuwait return safely to Philippines amid Middle East tensions

Seventy-nine overseas Filipino workers from Kuwait safely returned to the Philippines on Wednesday, May 21, as part of the government’s continuing repatriation efforts for Filipinos affected by tensions in the Middle East.

The OFWs arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City aboard a Gulf Air flight.

According to the Department of Migrant Workers, the repatriation effort forms part of the government’s directive under President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to ensure the safe return of Filipinos from the region.

The returning workers were welcomed by personnel from the Department of Migrant Workers, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the Manila International Airport Authority medical team.

Authorities said the OFWs received financial and welfare assistance, free medical consultations, temporary accommodation, and transportation support upon arrival.

The government also assured returning workers that reintegration programs are ready to help them restart their lives in the country.

These include job matching initiatives, skills upgrading programs, and livelihood assistance aimed at helping repatriated OFWs transition back to local employment and business opportunities.
