Pinoy vlogger Jam Magno voluntarily turned herself into the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Butuan City, where she was briefly held in connection with a psychological violence charge. Magno, a known supporter of former President Rodrigo Duterte, promptly posted bail later the same day.

Sharing her smiling mugshot on Facebook, Magno claimed innocence and emphasized the voluntary nature of her surrender. She also posted a scanned copy of her detention certificate signed by Cpt. Charles Evan Gatchalian, the officer in charge of Butuan City Police Station 4.

“I smiled because I am not guilty,” Magno asserted in her post.

“Have you seen a mugshot that’s much prettier than mine? Funny that people said I was arrested. Correction. I surrendered and posted my P72,000 bail.”

Gatchalian confirmed Magno’s voluntary surrender upon receipt of a warrant for her arrest.

Photos posted by Magno indicated that she was charged under Section 5 of Republic Act No. 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, which includes acts of psychological violence as defined in Section 3-c.

The specific details of the complaint against Magno remain unclear at this time.

Magno expressed gratitude to Butuan City Police Station 4 and Barangay Captain Kim Acalayen for their assistance in expediting her bail process.

Known for her vocal support of Duterte during his term, Magno had gained notoriety for defending the former president and criticizing opposition figures, particularly former Vice President Leni Robredo, often without basis. Some of her claims had been fact-checked by media organizations.

Magno, who had been out of the public eye since Duterte’s term ended, faced suspension on Twitter last year and a ban from TikTok in May 2021.

Notably, other staunch Duterte supporters, including Lorraine Badoy, Jeffrey Celiz, and Jay Sonza, have also made headlines in recent weeks.
