Five women have made it to the top 10 of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) “Masidtalak” Class 2023, which consists of 208 cadets and is set to graduate on Friday.
These include Jail Cadet Mary Louise Moyano (Rank 3), Police Cadet Claire Gean Pambid (Rank 5), Police Cadet Gezelle Sadian (Rank 6), Fire Cadet Gillian Torlao (Rank 7), and Police Cadet Kimberly Cruz (Rank 10).
Moyano, who will be joining the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), will receive the Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Kampilan Award, the BJMP Kampilan Award, and the Servant Leadership Kampilan Award. Torlao, on the other hand, will receive the Best in Forensic Science and Best in Laws and Jurisprudence awards.
Police Cadet Francis Geneta from Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, who graduated magna cum laude in his Bachelor of Science in Education Major in Mathematics at the Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology-Main Campus, is this year’s class valedictorian.
Despite his academic achievement, Geneta was raised by a single mother who works as a seamstress, and poverty inspired him to give his best.
In a Facebook post, PNPA said that: “Amid the grim struggle of winning supremacy over oneself, they have displayed paramount competence and excellence both in tactics and in the field of academics.”
Of the 208 cadets, 174 are male, and 34 are female. Upon graduation, 186 will join the Philippine National Police (PNP), while 11 will serve the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and another 11 will be augmenting the ranks of the BJMP.
The PNPA Class 2023 was the batch undergoing its second year of training when the Covid-19 pandemic started in 2020.
