The UAE’s relentless drive to detect cases of the coronavirus disease through both PCR and DPI tests led the country to reach over 20,593,403 tests since the beginning of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

During the week of December 23 to 29 alone – the country has reached over 900,000 tests, with a total conversion of only one percent out of all these tests that turned out as positive cases for COVID-19, according to the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA).

“From 23 to 29 December, more than 900,000 examinations were conducted across the country, and the number of confirmed cases was 8,491 which means the rate of positive cases out of the total number of examinations remains at 1%,” read the statement from NCEMA.

The extensive testing and investigations for COVID-19 also led health authorities to learn that the new coronavirus strain from UK has already reached the country with a limited number of cases received from abroad.
