Malacañang revealed that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is in ‘perpetual isolation’ to ensure his safety against contracting the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque states that the Presidential Security Group has laid out measures to ensure that no one gets close to the president, even during their closed-door meetings with the COVID-19 task force.
“He is in perpetual isolation in the sense that PSG has done a very good job in making sure that no one really comes close to the President,” said Secretary Roque.

Secretary Roque’s statements come after Department of Interior and Local Government and COVID-19 Task Force Vice-Chair Secretary Eduardo Año revealed that he recently tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) for the second time last August 15.
President Duterte met with Sec. Año last August 10, while the latter only knew that he was COVID-19 positive again last August 15.
“Ang presidente naman po, wala siyang close contact. And if we go by the book, Hindi siya nagclose contact dahil malayo po kami lahat kay presidente at naka face shield at saka naka face mask,” said Secretary Roque who revealed that he along with others in the August 10 meeting with Año are currently in self-isolation.
