The Philippine inter-agency task force on the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is considering of including Japan in Manila’s travel ban depending on the new criteria that they will be adopting.
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III said in a radio interview with DZMM on Thursday that the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases will release the criteria today.
If Japan will also fall under the criteria, the task force will decide to include them.
One of the criteria for a country to be included in the travel ban is the situation of local transmission of COVID-19 in the country. Another is if the country also has a high volume of travelers.
There are now 186 cases of infection among the general population in Japan. There are also 8 deaths recorded.
