The bleeding continued for Gilas Pilipinas as it dropped a heart-breaking 81-84 overtime loss to Angola in the 2019 FIBA World Cup at the GBA International Sports and Cultural Center on Wednesday.
Gilas ended the group stage with a 0-3 (win-loss) record.
Angola was the first lower-ranked team that Gilas faced in the tournament.
Gilas suffered blowout losses in their first two games, losing to Italy first, 62-108, before bowing to Serbia, 67-126.
Angola led by 10 points in the third period but the Filipinos came back behind CJ Perez, who scored seven straight points.
Perez also starred in a crucial play in the dying seconds of the fourth when he knocked down a three-pointer forced overtime.
It was a close affair in the extra session and Gilas had a chance to force a second overtime but Kiefer Ravena missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.
