In Dubai’s fast-pace life, having a regular workout routine is sometimes, still, hard to maintain. And many don’t want to devote a little extra time to make healthy exercises, even if everything is available. And so, to solidify the Pinoys and to have a good healthy lifestyle through common sports, the story of a group began.
Establishing a good friendship is the main goal why this group was created. Since many Filipinos do not have proper physical activity aside from walking, after their work, Pinoy Badminton group in Al Rigga was established. The said place is popular as many flats accept Filipino workers there.
The group teaches everyone, whether they are knowledgeable or not in this sport, teach them how to play, assist in growth, and provide with fun and energetic way to exercise and relieve the stress.
This is “Al Rigga Badminton Buddies.”
Formed in 2014, Al Rigga Badminton Buddies also known as ARBaB is a group of Filipino expats who share the passion for badminton. ARBaB opened its doors to members for a social-friendly environment which aims to encourage Filipino expats and families with children to explore the sport of Badminton and to create a safe and healthy society for Badminton players.
Arnold Cabildo, administrative and game coordinator said that the Badminton aims to make this a popular sport and hobby to everyone to become a fitness routine.
“We provide all that you need to regularly enjoy the game with your fellow players,” Cabildo said.
“We also want to promote healthy well-being and camaraderie among members, encouraging skills improvement through training and promoting the sport to all Filipinos and others within the Dubai region,” he added.
Envisioned improvement
Teaching and sharing the skills and techniques to enable players to improve themselves at their own pace is the goal of ARBaB to every player.
“We connect with current members and create a community, share news and information about our club, we mix up the content of the member post in social media so that they meet all of the different aims, For example, one post can be a photo of our members playing, the next could be telling how to get involved,” Cabildo said.
“Both of these posts could be just as likely to attract new members,” he added.
ARBaB has both men and women teams, which are made up of Filipino expats of different walks of life who all support each other to be the best at what they can do.
Healthy atmosphere, fun living
The said organization also organizes regular events so that they can always interact with everyone, and with new members. This provides a chance for all players to improve their game and confidence.
“We are having a regular queuing every Thursday 8 to 11 pm and provide time for players to have matches with each other producing a fun, sociable atmosphere for all new and old members,” he said.
ARBaB also accepts anyone willing to play, whether they have experience or not. According to the group, it’s a fast-paced game consists of many different hits, smash, gentle dinks, lob, and others.
“It’s a kind of challenge, every member challenge themselves to improve more., The club participates in the tournament throughout the year. It’s about collaboration, we know that partner has their back and supporting each other,” Cabildo explained.
More than sport or activity, ARBaB means friendship, playing with each other Pinoys to create a Philippine bond.
