Netizens took to social media to express how actress Irma Adlawan’s impressive acting moved them to tears as they watched the latest “Maala-ala Mo Kaya” episode on Saturday, June 1.
Adlawan showed her acting prowess as she gave life to the inspiring story of Nena Ruiz, a former teacher who was abused when she decided to go the United States and work as a domestic helper.
Nena has been working as a teacher in the Philippines for 32 years when she was duped by a business partner who took all her life savings.
Left with no money and a hefty debt, Nena decided to go to the US to work as a caregiver, hoping that she will be able to earn back the money that was taken from her.
However, more problems came Nena’s way as she found out that the person who offered her the job abroad was a human trafficker.
She was then forced to work as a nanny for an abusive Filipino family in San Francisco. Nena would experience physical abuse and starvation from her employer who also pays her way below her supposed salary.
Through time, Nena was able to find help from other people who truly cares about her and was able to get the justice she wanted for herself.
Also part of the episode are Agot Isidro, Soliman Cruz, Ana Luna, Alexa Ilacad, Suzette Ranillo, Racquel Monteza, Sonjia Calit, Junjun Quintana, Ivan Padilla, Markki Stroem, Patty Mendoza, Luz Fernandez, Jason Dewey, and Joyce Ann Burton.
After the episode, netizens commended Adlawan for her superb performance as an abused OFW.

Ms. Irma Adlawan deserves a best actress award for this! This episode moved us a lot and helped us see the struggles every OFWs deal with. I firmly stand against mistreatment of OFWs. They do not deserve it. Nobody deserves that kind of treatment. #MMKNotMyDignity

Irma Adlawan is one of the few actors who can do both evil villain and meek protagonist convincingly. She is a master of her craft #MMKNotMyDignity
