Thousands of UAE residents gathered at Um Al Emarat park last Friday, April 5 in the afternoon as NMC hosted their annual Walk of Life – a campaign that aims to spread awareness in the fight against cancer.
In attendance were Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Hjayceelyn Quintana, Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil, NMC Health Chief Operating Officer Michael Davis, NMC Specialty Hospital Abu Dhabi General Manager Major Tom Louis, HOD – Medical Oncology and Walk of Life Project Head Dr. Mohanad Diab, HOD – NMC Mabuhay Clinic and General Medicine and 2018 TFT Healthcare Professional of the Year Dr. Aileen Mariategue Villanueva, along with many residents of all ages who walked together at NMC’s first cancer awareness walk in the capital.
Popular Emirati Social Media Influencer and 2018 The Filipino Times Personality of the Year Awardee Khalid Al Ameri also went to the event to cheer on the attendees as well as the real stars of the event – the featured cancer survivors of various nationalities.
Filipino group Organisasyon ng mga Mang-aawit at Mananayaw sa Abu Dhabi (OPMMAD) welcomed the attendees with an engaging Zumba session, followed by several song and dance numbers that culminated with an all-out song performance dedicated for the cancer survivors.
Various Filipino organizations, headed by the Bayanihan Council Abu Dhabi with their chairman Elmer Casao, supported the event by bringing in hundreds of Filipinos who joined the walk.
